THE DECADES
Where It All Began
The Decades are a four-piece band based in County Wicklow, Ireland. Keeping it all together on the drums is David Mulvey, backed up by Myles Keogh on the bass, driving the sound forward. Playing lead guitar for the group is Rhys Doyle, alongside the rhythm guitar and vocals of Seán Fox. Prior to forming the group, Sean had spent many years working on and performing his own songs, opening for the likes of Aslan and Jerry Fish along the way. The group originally came together in the early months of 2020 when both Sean and David met in a music production class in college. From there, the rest of the band just fell into place and we quickly began to put together a set of original music. Plans to perform these songs live were suddenly hijacked with the arrival of Covid-19 and we were forced to go back to the drawing board. This was when we decided we would record our first single and get to work on getting our name out there. Between the four of us we were able to combine our skills to perform, record, mix, and master the song. We also put together our own video to go along with it. Our debut, “Electricity”, was recorded live, the old school way. Using live drums and tube amps, we hoped to try and capture the energy that we felt each time we played together in the rehearsal room. It was on the 30th of October that we finally released the track. The response we received was overwhelming considering it was our first release and we had only performed live publicly once. Within the first day of release, we were shocked to see that we had made it to Number 1 across all genres on the iTunes charts and that we had subsequently managed to break on to the Irish Homegrown Top 20 charts. The last few weeks have been very exciting for us but this is only the beginning - we have a lot more to come.
Feb 2021 saw the lads release their second single fools Gold which agin gained air play all across Ireland and claim The No 1 Spot on the iTunes download chart
